Gold service is the most convenient way for builders to get temporary electrical service at a residential building site.
- Gold Service may only be used for lights, tools, and equipment necessary for the construction of the residential dwelling(s).
- Gold Service may not be used for operation of permanently installed appliances or equipment, construction trailers or to heat or dry structures under construction.
It’s easy to arrange, and one flat rate covers installation and unmetered service for up to 12 months (see Cost below). You save time, plus there are no hassles with government permits, no PGE service inspections needed and no monthly bills! Gold service is available in any area with underground electrical lines.*

How Gold temporary installation service works
After you order Gold temporary service by phone, fax or our online order form, PGE will install a temporary pedestal at the property line with four 110- and one 220-volt receptacles.
With Gold temporary service, no government permits are required and no PGE service inspections are needed. PGE takes care of any necessary maintenance of the pedestal. After the final electrical inspection by the local governmental jurisdiction, PGE installs the permanent service and replaces the temporary pedestal with a permanent pedestal cover.

Cost
One flat rate of $275 covers installation, any necessary maintenance and unmetered service, up to 12 months or until permanent service is installed.

You can have Gold temporary service installed at any single-family residential building site in areas served by underground lines. (Some smaller multi-family units may also qualify.)
